I'm trying to synchronize the throttle and spark advance and I'm having trouble. I just reclaced the follower because it was cracked, so I installed a new one. I'm trying to get the butter fly to open by setting the wheel between the two hash marks, but I'm out of adjustment, the set screw is bottomed out. I used the old wheel, as it didn't come with follower. Could it be worn out? Any one run into this problem? Thanks.....Robert

Re: 1980 johnson 4.5hp sync.

put twist grip in start position,
ignition cam should move and touch the cam folower wheel, just barely touch.
screw in a litle cam follower screw
try to start motor,
adjust screw of this cam follower to get easy start, but twist grip should be in start position, or in this area

dont screw all the way in this screw, because motor can be flood

cam follower wheel sometimes can be worn, but apply some wd40 and this cam should roll, if you want to cover this worm mark, use some epoxy and file to get round wheel
