Just acquired an 18' fiberglass boat. HIN code: ZOF (KMV) model year 1980. It has an MC-1 outdrive and Mercruiser 260 engine (they appear original). Very heavy boat/engine combo. Has a ski hook on the back. She has been sitting in a field for a couple of years, but I couldn't resist her for the price. She cranks, thank God! There was milkshake in the oil pan but the cylinders were dry and the plugs look good. the exhaust bellows is shot, so maybe regurg on last trip!?!? I changed out the oil and filter several times, looks good now. I can't find any info/photo history of this model, but this site has been invaluable for a newbie like me. Luckily, I found the Mercruiser manuals(1, 2, 3, 4) for these engines/drives. I will dive deeper into my new project when the snow clears here in Montreal. Any advice/info on this boat would be greatly appreciated.

A " heavy " boat might be a concern to me.------Does this boat have foam floatation, I think it does ?---Possibly water logged ?----Water in the oil pan would be a concern.-----Think rusted / corroded parts.

I will remove a section of floor to inspect for moisture/rot in the spring. At least it turns over so far. Will check risers and manifolds in spring as well.
