I’m restoring a 1980 Wellcraft 200xl cuddy cabin boat basically from the ground up. I’m not finding a lot of info or schematics on this boat so we’re basically going into it blind. We’ve pulled the engine and we’re starting work on the transom and stringers. We’ve pulled up the floor and are starting to scoop out foam. I need any tips and tricks to make my life easier. This is the first time I’ve ever done this and I’m definitely a noob when it comes to repairs below deck. I love this boat and time and effort is no issue. I have several questions about products and etc. My current stringers are plywood and I’m wondering if there’s something better that will prevent rot in the future. Also trying to figure out how best to attach them to the hull and transom before I cover in fiberglass mat and resin. I also have some chips and fiberglass showing on the outside of the hull and was wondering if mat and resin were needed there or if a good two step epoxy and new gelcoat would seal the deal. I want to do this boat right so it will last for years to come. Thank you for any input!
