I have a 1980s evinrude 35 2 stroke, that ive been using off and on for a few years now. Appart from it not being serviced in about 15 years, its very reliable. It runs like hell though. Im deffinitly not getting the power i should be getting out of it, and even though my boat (A 12 ft Lund Aluminum) is for some reason very heavy, i should be going much much faster then i am. I havent gotten it out of storage yet this year. Its not technically my boat, however im the only one that uses it and its considered, "mine". My family has been talking about replacing the motor and boat a few years down the line, and getting something more fuel efficient and newer. Ive been arguing that the motor and boat are perfectly fine, just need some TLC. they arent convinced and now im beginning to rethink my position. Is it really worth it to keep? the motor is so terrible on gas, it burns at least 4 liters on a 8 min trip, and it barely planes with my 120 pound self. I average about 30 kmh, and speed drops by 4 kmh for evey passenger i have. its rediculous. it obviously needs a tune up, but is it really worth the investment? Keep in mind, im a 15 year old, struggling to find a job, and I cant afford some of these expensive old stock parts. I need advice
