It appears that my assist cylinder which aids in raising and lowering the trim has seized. When I rotate the lever on the steering arm towards the stern, or towards the bow for that matter, it does not allow the engine to raise or lower. I've got about 2-3 inches of play up and down, and that's about it.

I read a post about removing the bolt which secures the bottom of the engine to the mount, lifting up the engine, then pulling the cable which attaches to the top of the cylinder, thereby allowing you to bleed it and move the engine. Is this correct? I tried to remove this bolt, but its not budging and there is no sense damaging the threads if I'm not even on the right track.

Any help is appreciated.
