I have a 1981 (I believe) 20hp Suzuki Arctic Spirit outboard engine.
I have a couple of questions and was wondering if you could help.
First, the engine has been sitting for 20+ years in a garage. What would be the things I need to check before starting the engine for the first time again (i.e. gear oil, water pump, etc.). Secondly, the engine is equipped with an electric start. It has the full wiring harness, except for the ignition switch assy and the stop switch assy. I don't mind having to pull the engine switch over if the ignition switch is not needed, but, definitly want to have the stop/kill switch. Can I rigg this in my garage, or do I need to buy after-market or dealer parts? Finally, the engine was originally installed on a 15-foot fiberglass motorboat that had a steering wheel and throttle at the captain's seat. I am planning to use this engine on a 14-foot utility boat and was wondering if I can make my own tiller handle and throttle or can this bought after-market or through a dealer?
