Have got all lot of help from all you so I want to post a basic question. The motor starts great and generally runs fine. I haven't had a lot of experience with larger 2 strokes so my question is, should this motor run as smooth at idle in gear as it does mid to upper rpm range? If I am trying to putt along just in gear the motor dosen't sound like it's missing or anything but it shudders quite a bit. I have replaced plugs and am running new gas but I haven't dug into the carbs yet. Sort of if it ain't quite broke don't go asking for trouble. Do these have low range mixtue adjustments like the old 5.5 Sea-Horse I had and would that be a place to start? Maybe they are just naturally rough at that speed. Thanks for past and future advice.

BTW after replacing the rectifier I'm getting a consistent 14.6 volts running at WOT.

The 3 cylinder motors have a distinct sound and feel at idle. It probably is normal.

Thanks FR. I kind of thought that might be the case. Any suggestions to try and smooth it out if it could be done?
