I'm really mechanically declined, but I'm learning. I have really bad luck with boats, but I got a really good deal on this one and I want to make it work. Previous owner claims he never had any problem with the boat (Of course he hasn't). Whats happening is I can run around for about 5-10 minutes WOT and back down to idle and then to rolling speeds and back up to WOT. Sometimes it does not go back WOT like its not getting enough fuel or something. It'll be half the RPM's as it was when I first started out. then it will eventually just die. The carbs were cleaned last spring. Primer bulb stays hard. I changed the diaphram in the fuel pump, and put some seafoam in the tank. Ran fine for about 10 minutes then the samething bogs down and I'm stuck in the middle of the lake trolling my way back. Sometimes if I wait it fires back up and itll run for a lesser amount of time say 5 minutes or so and bog right back down. The water pump works as when I run it on muffs I can see water coming out. I finally broke down and took it to a boat shop. HE looked at it for 2 hours or so and saw that the timing was off? It was set to 0 on WOT when the manual says it should be at 32? So he correct that timing problem. I'm wondering if that could cause it to bog down if that timing is off? I'm going to test it out today, but he was saying that if it doesn't fix the problem it could probably be the stator which is located inside the distributor on these motors.(Not to be confused with the stator under the flywheel). Any advice would be helpful guys.

Could be your fuel pick up tube in your tank is clogged. Make sure your fuel lines are all in good
shape meaning not cracked or loose fittings. Check fuel ventilation is clear. Check float adjustment is correct, to much fuel or not enough will cause these kinds of prob. Last but not least does your motor run better with the top cover cowl cover off. Oh and it might not hurt to do a compression test and check for spark on all cylinders. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. UPDATE: took the boat out to test it yesterday. After the mechanic adjust the timing it idles really low and unless I gun it forward it will die when I try to put it in gear(Reverse or Forward) but if I gun it foward it runs like a champ. Now, the problem I'm having now is that itll start to bog down and I have to pump the primer bulb manually to get it to pick back up. The compresson is 165,160,165 in the 3 cyclinders. The float adjustment I'm not sure how to do hopefully I can figure it out because these mechanics charge a arm and a leg. I ran through a whole 6 gallons of gas yesteday on the lake WOT, back down, then back up and all over. Just the person in the back had to keep pumping the bulb. Sometimes the bulb would just completely collapse. I'm going to check that "Fuel pickup tube"? What is the proper way to clean it? What is your opinion on putting the whole fuel line directly in the gas tank rather than having it connected to the fuel adapter? Thanks!
