1981 Dusky 256 inboard diesel conversion

Hey guys I'm looking at a 1981 dusky and it has a direct drive inboard diesel. The motor is shot and I'm thinking if I should pull the trigger and buy it but convert it to outboard. Has anybody on here ever converted a direct drive to outboard? How difficult is it and how would it work out with shifting the weight to the back like that? If there was a thread on this already can somebody just link it. Thanks

inboards use rudders, etc. that would be a lot of work and about 3x the cost of simply replacing the diesel with another diesel or a gas motor.

Darn I was thinking I could just cut all those things off and just glass over it. I guess it's not that simple
