Hey guys, I've got a 1981 Tiara with the Mercruiser 898 (305) in it. I put an exhaust boot on it last year and within a month or so it got too hot, burned/melted and now we're back to square one. After running the boat just above idle on muffs my port side, from the riser, boot and exhaust outlet are all hovering right around 120 degrees. However, when I put my gun on the starboard side, I'm looking at temps 170, 198, 198.

The actual exhaust manifold (log) is running right around 105-110 on both sides, so it's not seeming like I was originally thinking as a blocked water port in the manifold.

Any ideas?

Best Regards,

you have a water flow issue where no water is making it thru the manifold to the riser. time to pull the risers and see where the plug is.

I had the same problem last year. The riser was plugged with rust and would not let cooling water thru and it melted the hose...time for new risers and or manifolds
