1982 175 fuel pump questions

I looked up the fuel pump kits for my 1982 evenrude 175. There was only one listed. They do not fit. I looked in the maual and it shows two types of pumps. One is standard and one is high performance. There is no kit listed for the high perfomance pump. Not sure where to go from here.

The 1982 engine used two pumps. The original part numbers are 388555 for the upper and 389440 for the lower. Contact any Bombardier dealer for the latest superceded part numbers. Rebuild kits for these pumps are not available from Bombardier. Later engines came with a single combination fuel/oil mixing pump. Check your model number vs the Bombardier parts lists on line at: epc.brp.com.

i used the original repair kit part number to find the rebuild kit. Cross referenced with after market kit. It will not work. Is it possible that these are not stock pumps.

I checked the repair kits I bought and the numbers match the brp repair kit number. There are two years listed 1982 and 1983 but they both use the same repair kits. I am sure the engine is a 1982 and I think the repair manual was a clymer. This seems to be a common pump and a common repair kit.

The repair kit usually listed for the older large pump is part #395867, now listed as superseding to #0398514. Aftermarket kit is Sierra 18-7821. This has the flat seal for the cover rather than the o-ring. http://www.iboats.com/mall/partfind...gd_poid=109273&gd_row=39&**********=050567151

The repair kit usually listed for 1987 and newer pumps is usually #433519 now listed as superseding to 0438616. Aftermarket kit is 18-7800.

thanks for the help. I had the 18-7820 and the gaskets diaphrams were too small. I will try the 18-7821. I do not think I would have found this out your help.
