I recently took my motor in for repair, had both carbs rebuilt and new fuel lines put in. When I picked it up they said it runs good and has great compression but I have a cylinder seal sucking air. They didnt really answer my questions for I think they want me to buy a new motor. Are they talking about the cylinder head seal?
They said it be about $1000 for parts and labor but my motor is on its last leg in his terms. The carb rebuilds was $350. Im just curious if its possibly just the cylinder head seal, which I couldnt see how it be that expensive. The motor pushes my 2000 sylvan 1600 expedition great. I get up on plane fast and runs 30mph at around 5200 rpm. And that was with dirty and a bad carb.

Ask them what one. If its the upper or lower crank seal its not that hard to change

Actually I believe they said it was the Upper crank seal. Which part number would that be, or at least what direction to head in.

Nice engine, been running a 1983 60hp on my 16' Alumacraft with about the same performance. I think they're trying to sell you something too.
