1982-83 vovlo AQ125A(?) with Penta 270 Outdrive

Tried to sell boat over winter, lot of lookers no takers. I want to do a big matinees on engine this year to assure years of reliable use. I have replaced alternator (spring 2012) and change oil and filter every spring, plugs every 2 years. I am having starter and solenoid rebuilt because was having issues with starting last year. Tested everythin and looks like solenoid is failing.

Any other things to do to make sure engine is running in tip top condition?????

Check the relay connections for the starter slave relay, when they get corroded, you get problems starting too.

Ever do any maintenance on the drive? Or grease the bearing in the flywheel cover? Bellows replace gear lube changes, lubing the steering etc?

No i have not. I have changed the lower unit oil but that is about it. What all should i do to it, or I should say how do i do it?


Also the lift motor has barly enough in it to lift lower unit, is this a sign the the lift motor needs to be replaced also?

15 may not be a big deal since you are selling the boat, but may help in some of the other things. 10 will get you the owners manual that gives a lot of maintenance information for your engine and drive.

I am aware of that. So is the one I posted a link to. It's a 280, but the same setup you have, the same problems can exist in yours.
