Ok so to start the story I was out and about with the boat and the trim tilt worked fine until I brought the boat back in on the trailer. The relay to make the trim go up went out. So I swapped relays to get the motor up and it went up accordingly no issues. Got the boat on the trailer went to trim all the way up to put the travel lock on and ...yup the other relay must have gone bad.
Not a big deal to get 2 new relays to find it worked fine after that but to get the motor to g all the way up for the travel lock I loosened the pressure screw at the bottom so I could manually lift it. This is where things start to go bad.
So as to be expected a little fluid leaked from the pressure screw but once up and locked I tightened it back up and all seemed hunky dory. Go to the next day and I got out and there is a puddle of fluid under the motor. Attempting to trim with the new relays I saw more fluid pour out from the pressure release screw. Bad O ring right. So I get a new O ring and finagle the screw out ( thank you snap lock). Replace the O ring put the screw back in no more leakage. So at hit point I know I am low on fluid so I got and get some standard Trim Tilt fluid and follow general methods filling the reservoir. At this point the motor falls automatically and barely moves when either attempting to go up or down. I assume air in the system someplace and read that this system should auto bleed the air. So boat has sat for a few days with no changes.
When up it triggered manually you can lift or lower the engine with little resistance and the same for down. Reservoir seems to be as full as I can make it ( filled it several times going though about 32 ounces of trim fluid). So what might be the problem? Any guesses or thoughts would be welcome. Else I am waiting 3 weeks to get it into the shop.
