Hi y'all. Having some problems with my carbs. Floats seem to be sticking and flooding my 1 and 3 carbs. I have pulled the tops off of each and when I immerse the float in the gas in the bowl they both rise, so the floats seem to be fine. The valves in each toggle easily up and down on each, and there appears to be no drag on the levers that toggle the needle valve. I pull the tops off of each, reassemble and the unit fires right up. Run around the lake for a bit and when I slow down to a near idle and check the carbs fuel runs out the two of them. And then of course it's flooded. I'm thinking that the float chambers maybe need to be cleaned in case the floats are sticking on the sides. Also, the springs on top of the floats seem OK. Need some advice so I can run this ol' girl like it meant to be run, any ideas?

Which style floats, cork or newer plastic?

Older cork had a tendency to absorb fuel and not 'float' as high as the newer plastic ones.

Merc had foam floats and hard plastic floats. The foam floats used to disolve after a while. The hard plastic ones can crack and sink. I recommend you inspect them and make sure the inlet needle and seats are good. Also make sure the little spring on top of the float is good.
