1982 Chrylser 9.9 . Can start, run and idle fine. Next time won't turn over at all?

1982 Chrysler 9.9. engine runs. Usually starts on first or second pull. Will run and idle fine. Then after I stop it won't start again.I can try it the next day and it will fire up on the next pull and then try it again and it won't start. Carburetor is cleaned, good plugs and spark. Not sure what to look for? electrical? Kill switch sticking?

Is it pumping water ok?

Yes,the water pump is working fine.

Two things to check for are, 1) possible flooding that clears after sitting. 2) Rubbed bare wires that may be shorting when engine is hot and "swollen" then unshorts when cooled and shrunk.:facepalm: Words aren't flowing this morning
