Hello I have a 1982 Chrysler 140 model #1408h2d I am missing a plastic piece that is attached to the throttle and it advances or retards the distributer. My book doest show this peice. I am trying to find out what it is called and maybe a part # and maybe where i may get one. Thanks:confused:

Re: 1982 chrysler distributor question?

If you mean the black plastic ball joint, of which there are two, attaching the throttle cam to the tower, then it is a standard part used on ALL large Chrysler and Force engines. Ask your mercury dealer for 1990 Force 120 or 125 whichever they made that year. part # 269141-1 "ball joint with stud" Only sold as an assembly to get more money from you. The ball joint breaks but I have never seen a worn out stud.

If you are asking about the black plastic part that attaches the tower to the distributor, then you can use the Force connectors--whichever one you need. The connectors are held to the tower and trigger assembly by shoulder screws and the hole is the same size as your tower shaft. Only difference is that the Force hole is counterbored to recess the screw head. It will not make any difference. Again, look for a Force 1990 engine database. Merc has 'em. 1988 Force 125 calls them "End-control rod (to towershaft)" part # 499035 and "end, control rod to trigger" part # 9036

If you absolutely MUST have the original part, Contact franzmarine at The Chrysler Crew.

Why not consider making one yourself? Chunk of nylon or aluminum works. The large hole is 5/16 and the threaded portion is 1/4-28. Only problem would be if it is the left hand threaded one. Then you would need to buy a special and expensive tap.
