1982 Galaxy, Mercruiser 485 bogging down

I have a 1982 Galaxy Executive equipped with a Mercruiser 485. The boat is hard to start cold, but once it cranks it runs like a top for about an hour, sometimes longer. Then out of the blue it will start bogging down coming out of the hole. It acts like its going to die when you give it throttle. Its starts off fine, then bogs down. We use the boat to ski and wakeboard behind, so feathering the throttle to keep it running makes it impossible to ski behind.

I've tuned it myself, had it tuned by a professional, even had the carburetor rebuilt twice, but it still does it. Its not running hot, and once you get it planed off and going it runs perfectly, its just coming out of the hole. Any suggestions or tips as to what could be wrong?

Also, I need to replace the throttle and throttle cable, the throttle is getting sloppy and the cable is getting stiff. How do I find out which cable and throttle I need.

Is this posted in the wrong section? Or is this an unusual problem that nobody has an answer to?

What is the difference in a marine carb and one designed for automotive use? I've considered swapping my 485 over to a small 4 barrel, this would jump the horse power up from 185 to 225 from what I've read. And hopefully eliminate my bogging down problem, as it seems to be a fuel issue to me?
