Hi everyone, I have an '82 Johnson 2hp engine, I got it seized up, and have since disassembled the entire unit and cleaned everything, put it back together, and its all set now (compression is 120 psi). My great uncle who passed away left me this engine and he didnt use it for years (I think the rings rusted to the piston walls causing it to be seized).

Anyways I went to start it and I have no spark.

I cleaned the points with sandpaper (more like emery cloth)

What else should I do? Is it cheap enough to simply do a "tune up" and replace the points, condensor, ect?

Where do I get parts for this?

Thank you everyone :)

I did not set the gap- I did make sure the key was in the right place and I did torque the flywheel down.

I would rather replace the points and condenser for good measure if im going to pop the flywheel off again anyways-

are these the 2 main parts of the ignition system?

where can I get parts? Thank you for your reply :)

heather,

Yes, the gap (points) is .020".

Points and condenser replacements are cheap enough.

The only other equation in the system, is the coil.
