The throttle/lever arm with tilt in it is taped together and the tilt button only work every now and then. does anyone have one if you do you can email me at chadweiserss@yahoo.com I can pay alot i had to by christmas for a lot of people this year.

Look up the salvage yards at the top of this forum in the top secret file.

I found a local savage yard but they didnt have any omc, johnson, or evenrude parts. All they had was mercury and yamaha.

I recently rebuilt a remote for a Johnson 1979 - 85hp. I didn't replace the trim switch, but I did take it apart and clean the contacts. Worked great afterwards. Could you just replace some of the plastic parts that are currently being held together with tape? Sounds like you need at least a lever cover (#336242 - $16). The trim switch attaches to the inside of the cover. I'm including a few pics from the project, let me know if you have any questions.

Go to the top of this forum and you'll see "top secret files". Click on that and when it comes up scroll down to salvage yards.

You can get all of the part numbers here:

http://www.marineengine.com/parts/j...M&manufacturer=Johnson&section=Remote+Control

Take the lever off and disassemble it to see which parts you need to order. There is a spring behind the red slide, be careful not to lose it when disassembling.

Most of the other photos that I have, are related to the internals of the remote. If your only problem is with the lever, you don't need to open the remote case. I will include one that shows the location of the Allen head screw that has to be removed to get the lever off.

To remove the lever:
You should lay the remote on blocks, lever facing down and not touching the surface that you're working on. On the back of the remote, loosen the Allen head screw 3 complete turns. Place a punch in the center of the Allen head and tap with a hammer until you feel the splines of the lever disengage from the case. Then completely remove Allen head, and lever will come off.

Photo showing Allen head location (You won't need to remove the three screws i.d.'d with blue arrows):

Re: 1982 Johnson 60hp side control with tilt in lever/throttle please help

I have another question. I took the boat out this weekend and when i move the throttle forward or reverse for about a inch in ether direction. I feel a viberation in the throttle and hear a clicking noise in the engine. but as I keep pushing the throttle back or forward it finally kicks into gear. Is there a way to fix this.

Yes. Just snap shift it to put it in gear. You're doing what they call " granny shifting". If you keep doing this you'll wear the shift dog and gears in the l/u.
