1982 Mariner 15hp settings

I think My Mariner/Yamaha is ideling a little fast in forward. What are the card adjustments on this motor? Should the butterfly valve be wide open at WOT?

take your adjusting screw, and turn it clockwise just until you feel it snug tight. Dont tighten it 2 tight or you woll flange out your needle. OK, your jets are completely closed. Now, rotate it counterclockwise 2 rotations. Put on water and run under a load. Fine tune from there.
