1982 mariner 2.0l 150 Piston Rod Direction

I am using a manual that is the year newer than mine and the year before it to try and do this rebuild. The manual I have says that the casting numbers on the piston rods need to face the flywheel and the other says to face away from the flywheel. I have tried doing a search for my specific model and have come up short.


So here is the question. Does the casting number on my piston rods need to face the flywheel?

It really doesnt matter as long as the 2 rod alignment bumps on rod are facing flywheel..
