Hi,
I have a 1982 Mercruiser 470. There are 2 pairs of wires in the back that I'm curious about.
1. The first set are 2 wires with round terminal ends in the back above the coupler; one is a black wire and one is actually 2 greyish/greenish wires together ending in one round terminal. The previous owner had a paper tag attached to them that said "Shift Sensor Neutral". What are these 2 sets of wires for? My engine is currently out of the boat, and on blocks in my garage. If I don't have these attached anywhere, will it prevent my motor from starting in the garage?
2. Again, in the back of the motor above the coupler, there's a red wire wrapped together with an olive greenish or greyish wire. I need to better connect these 2 wires together, but any idea what circuit path these 2 wires twisted together are?
