Won't start just get a single clicking sound. Not being familiar with this engine I kept trying to start the engine without the aid of the choke. It would start run a few seconds then die. After a few times the battery ran down. Recharged battery and this time it did the same thing only I cranked on the starter until the click. Now engine will not even turn over. Help!!

sound like there is a short circuit somewhere, you will have to start by checking all the wires from the battery to the starter, make sure they are not corroded, check the starter, look for any corrosion on the wires, terminals, solenoid etc. .....

Make sure you can turn the flywheel clockwise by hand (ignition key OFF). If you can, engine's okay. If it was spinning over before you charged the battery, I'm guessing the battery cable ends and battery posts need to be sandpapered shiny-clean before reassembly with nuts and lockwashers.

Re: 1982 suzuki DT115

thanks guys! turned out to be a bad bendix in the starter, will have to replace. While looking for the problem I found another, I started the engine by pull start and found gas leaking out a small hole in the carb body on the linkage side of the carb. Mikuni carb has a pilot(idle)jet on top. right below the pilot jet screw on either side are two horseshoe shaped extrusions. fuel is coming out of a hole inside horseshoe extrusion on the left. Any idea what the hole is for, and why is fuel coming out the hole?
