Alright. I had my boat in a shop to find out why IU was maxing out att 27mph.
They call me and informed me that my engine was overheating my control is no longer beeping so I was not aware. They said the first thing is to replace the water pump and thermostat but the part for 1982 are no longer available.
I found on http://www.brownspoint.com/store/pc/suzuki/dt140.asp that most part # from 1982 have simply been replace by part number for the 1986-2001 catalog so I ordered the thermostat and head gasket kit cover gasket 2 bypass and a few other parts.

Before I opened it up I did a compression test
#1- 116 psi #2- 114 psi #3- 120 psi #4- 120 psi it?s not the best, but its stable and within the 10% acceptable tolerance.

I did that this week-end myself. Found that the last idiot that worked on my engine used silicone instead of a proper head gasket and cover gasket. Cleaned all the parts made them look like new, remove and cleaned the block water passage that where a bit clogged from the silicone. But all back.
1 I notice that piston #2 has a bit of play not much but enough to know that it will not last 10years.
2 #3 head and piston had lots of oil in it. Still have to find the fault I will start by new plug and I need to find a coil pack for it. If that does not work it maybe the carb #3 giving to much gas/oil in that cylinder. Still need to diag. ANY IDEAR ???

After all is back together I did a other compression test. To my surprise they all went up #1- 120psi #2- 118 psi #3- 125 psi #4-125 psi
Started the engine with the water hose and it?s no longer overheating now the block temperature is reasonable you can leave your hand on the block its warm but it does not burn your hand like before. However the water coming out of the jet is very warm almost coffee temperature. Wondering if its normal for these engine to be so warm. ANYWONE ???

Now I have not had the chance to put it on the water yet to see if I am now getting more then 27mph. I want to diag the #3 getting wet first.
Next week-end I will install a tack so that if it still max att 27mph I can see what RPM I am running. It did not sound like much I am thinking 3500-4000rpm . ANY IDEAR ???
