Hello all, I noticed milky oil in my lower unit and took it off and put a little air presure in there and noticed the shift shaft seal is the little culprit. Can anyone give me a quick leson on how to take that little booger out? I have a manual but it covers 40 hp and up.

youve got to take whole lower unit apart when you do that seal ... and you need a special tool for getting the shift shaft bushing out - my friend frank robb makes the tool (i have one of his and its pretty high quality stuff ) i think he charged me 20 bux for it shipped but im not sure im pming you his email

Cool, I took the lower off and actually found out how to do it and I took it to this guy I know who had a press and he pressed it out for me. come to find out I probably actually didn't need to replace the bushing but since it's a 83 I thought I might as well. Took it out tonight and checked the oil and absolutely no water at all in it. I will see about that tool though levi just encase it happens again and maybe make a little on the side now that I know how to do it. Thanks much.
