The boat was fine 2 weeks age, found out my impeller broke all the rubber fins off, and I believe it's clogged up my exhaust manifold. Question is how do I unclog it?. I've replaced the empellor, and found all the old rubber fins and pieces, hard to tell really if I found all of them. But I took off all of my copper tubes and cleaned them. Cleaned my water filter and all, found one small piece in there. Took copper tube off from filter to exhaust manifold and cleaned it. And I fingered the hole on the manifold, could not feel anything blocking it. I've got it all back together now, gasket sealed and new rubber washer seals. So it should be air tight. Gonna go home and try in when I'm off work, but if it still runs hot then its gotta be a clogged exhaust manifold, but how do I clean it? Thermostat is good, and sealed. And I'll be sure to prime my water pump lines with water.

I think it would be pretty hard for rubber pieces to get through the heat exchanger to the exhaust manifold. That would be the last place I'd look. Back flush the heat exchanger. Put a new impeller in and try it out on the water if it's not too cold out.

well i tryed it out on the water hose and in a plastic container full of water, and all was good for a while. so i assume the exhaust manifold is not clogged or bad. however, after running for a while and giving mild revs in neutral the heat began to rise, and then dropped once the thermostat opened i guess. then a bit later antifreeze started leaking from the cap, then started leaking from my seals that attach it to the raw water filter. also im leaking from the copper pipe that goes into the bottom of the exhaust manifold.... and i have a drip now from my 2 copper pipes running to the water pump on front. does anyone know where to get the rubber gasket/ seal replacements for the copper pipes? via the (2) going to the water pump, and the (1) attatched to the bottom of the manifold, and the (1) upper to that attached to the filter resivor? and the (2) larger ones that seal the heat exchanger to the raw water filer? Im good now, just got minor leaks everywhere, had them gasket sealed, a **** ton of it too. and it doesnt hold. even went to harbor freight and got similar seals/washers for the ends of the copper pipes and the heat exchanger, those didnt cut it. even with gasket seal on top of them. and i was not leaking from my heat exchanger cap, until i topped off the antifreeze and put the cap back on. then i had leaks everywhere

To find the correct O-rings and seals for your engine model, about the best way to find all the parts you need would be to click on the cooling system of your engine model and locate all the parts you need and order them individually....For the most part you can find your parts/part numbers and add them to your shopping cart. Should the website in the following link not offer the part to buy at that time, write the part number down then go shopping online using the part numbers as you should be able to find the needed parts elsewhere if needed.

Here's two links to your engine model. You'll need to know if you have a AQ125A or AQ125B engine model to find the right parts.

125A,

125B,

Hope this helps, good luck.

This Volvo system needs to be almost perfect to not leak.
The system has a mix of o-rings, slotted square edge rings, and I believe the copper to exhaust is a combination o-ring/gasket.
Also, if the copper tubes are slightly bent, the seals won't work. If the pump is cocked, the seals won't work.
I tinkered with mine all season when I first got the boat before I finally got it right.
Good luck, maybe find a local expert to help.
p.s. Silicone won't help.
