1983 Evinrude 35 jerking

I've been reading posts on here for awhile but am new to post. I bought my 35 from my Dad and he says as long as he's had it the motor has done this. It went from a regular to long shaft but still does it. Since I've had it, I've replaced the water pump, drive shaft, clutch dog, power pack and coils becouse I thought it may be electrical. The motor runs great, fires right up but the more load on it the harder it jerks. It does not do this in reverse or in the barrel. I was told to swap the forward and reverse gears but they are different sizes and does not look like that would work. When I had the lower unit apart, all of the gears looked good but this jerking acts like there is a tooth missing.

One thing I have not looked at is where the top of the drive shaft seats. Hopefully there's someone that has dealt with this. I have a short video but can't get it to attach.
