1983 evinrude trouble

i have a 1983 evinrude 115 hp motor, and wile out today it ran fine in the beginning but at the end of the day it start acting up on me
it would start no problem but when i put it in gear and give it a bit of troutle it would stall. but when i start it and just put it in gear it would idle fine until i gave it more troutle then stall again. any suggestions on what to try would be appreciated.not sure if i got a coil problem or not..

Start by checking the spark and compression. If they are ok, you will have to move on to the fuel delivery system.

Weak ignition components tend to fail once the powerhead heats up to normal operating temperature. May run fine when cold-check for spark on all 4 plugwires after the engine has had time to get warmed up.
