1983 Four Winns with Mercruiser I6

Hello, I'm new to the boating world and would appreciate some opinions...
I'm looking to buy an 83 Four Winns open bow with the above engine etc..
The boat is a bit rough but likely will clean up ok...
I've heard good things about the engine..
I'm a little concerned because the boat has sat intermittently...
Any thoughts or things to consider would be appreciated..
