Just like the thread title says. Occasionally, on my 60 hp twin, I've been noticing power cuts at WOT, like it's struggling for fuel at time. Pulled the hood this weekend, and noticed when I prime the bulb, the fuel pump seems to be weeping. I assume this is my issue, but wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking anything before I order a new one.

You can get a rebuild kit for I think. New is easier I understand. Take it off and look for a tear in the diaphragm.

Rebuild kit is only marginally cheaper than the entire unit from my limited search. I'll take a look tonight.

You got to stop with this mod. Three cylinders were done for a completely different reason. This motor never called for this or needed it.

Agreed that motor block design came out in 1971 , no need to move the tell tale.------Easy fix is a pump diaphragm at about $5.99.

Have you ever owned one of these two cylinders?
I have and ive understood how air bubbles can accumulate in these and what actually happens to temperatures in number one cylinder because of it.
You have got to stop saying things you arent qualified to comment on Cadet

Untrue, ive owned one and its clear as day that there is no efficient way of evacuating air in this system, i dont like a motor running hot when im well out to sea bouncing over waves and thus sucking air occasionally into the pump

Well lets see, I have been working on boats for 45 yrs now & 25 of those yrs was as a Factory Service Rep for OMC! I was around when they designed the 56 cu in 3 cylinder & I am well aware of its short comings. Both cooling & otherwise. Two cylinders don't have cooling issues, period!

Sounds like you a part of the problem then lol, head in sand.
Oh well maybe if you owned one in warmer climates then you would know that they do overheat. But im reasonable, im not a tulip muncher so i give people a chance so if you can tell me how they efficiently evacuate air in a system which clearly facilitates air being caught up the top of the crankcase cooling chamber then please be my guest
