I need help yet again with my tilt unit. I had problems with this earlier last year, but thought I had it fixed....

When I try to tilt the moter either way, it will not move. The tilt motor sounds like it is working, but the engine just doesn't move. It is full of trim oil. I've tried moving the engine manually, but to no abdue. I thought that maybe there is air in the line, this I believe would complicate the tilting. How would you bleed it?? Any other suggestions?? This is really becoming a pain....PLEASE HELP!!

Air won't get into the system, and it is self bleeding. If you are sure it's full, and no external leaks,a valve or valve body inside is not seating.
If the above is true .... open the manual release valve and run the system up and down several times, then close the valve, and try again.
Beyond that, rebuild time, but first replace the manual release valve. Not cheap, but less than a rebuild.

DHP

Ok. The manual release valve, is it supposed to have an O-ring @ the end of it or not? I thought I read something aout that earlier....This is my first boat, so I'm not to knowledgeable about the topic.

Ok, I appreciate everyones help...here's where I've gotten:

I had a machanic look @ it and he can't find anything wrong with it. He knows the problem, but doesn't seem to know what is causing it. He says he can get me a rebuilt one for $550, but I'm gonna try a little more first....

I can get it to trim....that is working now, but when it hits the tilt, it doesn't go any higher. I can hear the motor working, but the engine is not moving. Now, if you hold the tilt button down AND give the engine a little manpower, it will tilt all the way up....it doesn't take much help, either. Seems like it is hitting a point where it doesn't have enough....umph...

If you have any suggestions, I am all ears!!!

Thanks!!
