lots of gas underneath carbs after been running. have noticed performance of engine slipping such as poor wide open throttle performannce. likes to drop from 5500 rpms to aroungd 3750- 4000 after running for a few minutes. is it time for a rebuild of carbs possibly and about how much should i expect to have to pay a mechanic for this?

Try pumping up the fuel primer bulb.Does it get firm and hold? If not either one or more of your carburetor float needles are not seating or one or more of thne fuel lines between fuel pump and carburetors are leaking.Tell us what you find and we can go from there.

Shops in my area charge around $60 per hour for labor and 6 carb rebuilds would be around 5-6 hours plus parts.
