1983 Johnson 235hp broken starter mount

The mounts on the the intake manifold that the starter bolts to broke. I have heard that it can be welded, I have also heard that it can be repaired by other means. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

If it's the intake manifold that is damaged, you may find it easiest to just replace the mainifold. It is just a bolt-on piece. The V6 mainifolds are generally all the same, with some having the recirculation systems on them. There should be plenty of used ones around in marine salvage yards.

Thank you for your reply. Everyone seems to think that I should repair it. Replacing it may be a little pricyI would think, but should give some piece of mind. Thanks again.

It actually is the cylinder crankcase assembly that is broken. I looked at it a little better. Can this be repaired?

Would JB Marine Weld be an option for this repair? I don't know what kind of torque the starter puts on the cylinder crankcase assembly what it engages.

Forget JB Weld ... it won't hold. Get a used manifold or get it TIG welded.

I have had two welders look at it and they say that welding it won't work. So I am looking for an alternative.
