1983 Johnson 25 HP will not start

I replaced the primer line, the fuel line from fuel pump to carb, but when I crank the engine it turns over but does not start.

Pulling plugs, grounding and cranking shows spark and they seem slightly wet from fuel. When I spray carb cleaner in the intake, it starts for a second then dies.

I also took apart the card and cleaned it thoroughly.

Any ideas?

your spark should jump a 7/16" open air gap..carb cleaner spray isn't good as a starter spray as it'll wash away the oil film on the reciprocating parts in the crankcase as well as the rings and cylinder walls, plus, it really doesn't take much of a spark to ignite it...check your compression, spark quality, and use fuel mix in a spary bottle to keep diagnosing things
