I was checking out a lower for a leak of milky lube. When I went to remove the Bearing carrier out to inspect the O-ring I Found the four retaining fasteners loose.I removed the retainer/carrier found the plate was cracked into several pieces. I removed the snap rings and the reverse gear to inspect and found some small pieces of the plate that had gotten by and were between the gears. I also found that the fwd gear had a small chip in it . I have not seen this problem before and would like to know If others Have and what they did to repair it. Is the forward gear need replacing? or should I run it and see If a can get a couple more years out before I spend the time and money to rebuild?
