Hey guys, first time boat owner here. My transom has about a 1/4in of play on one corner with cracks and these stress cracks that go up and down on either side of the motor.
Any thoughts on how far gone the transom is? Any tell tale signs that I can look for to know if it’s something I can monitor and continue using or if I just need to call it now?B9EAA64F-B791-47B4-A7C3-358F760B0C0A.jpegECC0009B-A710-4985-A0B3-23E96FD42B1D.jpeg

Welcome aboard.

You wrote about all the tell-tell signs. The next one is the transom gives up and the motor goes swimming.

Along with the transom, the stringers and deck are probably rotted.

Yep, 1/4" of play and all those cracks are tell-tale signs it's time to park it until it's fixed.

Your transom shouldn't have any play in it...clue #1. There shouldn't be caulk/goo on top of your transom cap....clue #2 Those cracks are stress cracks from a failing/failed transom...clue #3.

I'd suggest thoroughly inspecting this boat before further use....then locate the resto forum if you decide the boat is worth saving.
