I was wondering if anyone could add some insight as to the removal and cleaning of the carbs. I have three carbs and I am going to attempt to remove and clean. I am going to buy three carb kits, some cleaner and a can of compressed air. Is there any trick to this? I am pretty mechanically inclined however I have never done this before so wanted to check with the experts before I did.

The most important tip I can give you is to use an OEM Service Manual and follow it closely.

Good luck. :)

To me, the hardest part is getting them off. Once you do that and have them on the bench, it's a piece of cake. No surprises or anything. Make a note or take pictures of the throttle linkage when you remove them and try to put it back just like it was. This will hopefully avoid having to synchronize the timing and carbs again. Also note the number of turns the needles are turned out...A digital camera really comes in handy...

Go for it.The only doubt I have is the carb cleaner and can of air.

When I do carbs,I soak them in solvent, then clean them with the carb cleaner. Then I blow them out with air, like you plan to do.

The difference is I have a compressor, you don't. I can waste a lot of air,you have a limited supply.Maybe use a fine wire thru the passages before you squirt the cleaner and air ?

Suggest you remove all the jets to make sure there are no restrictions in them. You will need a small screwdriver for this so you don't damage the jet during removal, installation. Or, you can get the special tool from Bombardier.
