1984 18 hp mercury impellar change question

Hello from North Alabama. I haven't posted in a while,and I tried very hard to find the answer by searching and am having no luck.so far I've been able to install new impellars on all my other rigs,but this one I don't know where to undo the shift shaft.Can anyone help? It's a 1984 18xd Mercury.Thanks in advance for any help. OLJO FROM ALABAM

SHIFT shaft?
Look under the carb. there is a stainless screw that holds the motor to not raise in reverse or neutral and shift. ???

Take the hood off and go from forawrd and reverves. you will see it.
eassier to see than explain.???

Thanks, Duckdown.I removed the starter and found where to un hook.I've ordered my impellar from Iboats and hope I have good luck getting hooked back up. thanks again,,OLJO FROM ALABAM

Doin't lose ss washer on the shift shaft. your motor wil raise in reverse.
