1984 18ft slyvan help

i bought my 18ft slyvan (aluminum) a few months ago as a project boat and the whole interior is done and i found out that the wood in the transom was bad and needed replaced. i have never done a trasom repair before and i was wondering what i have to do.

I think there are three or for transom rebuild threads here recently for aluminum boats (mostly Starcraft).

Give them and read. I doubt your Sylvan is much different.

Then post some pictures of your transom and someone can give specific help to questions.

Bottom line, it should not be that difficult. 2 pieces of 3/4 plywood sandwiched together, epoxied or fiberglassed and put back in place.

Mine took about 5 hours of labor to replace. Not difficult at all on an aluminum boat.
