I don't have the service manual yet, but I've been doing a little preventative maint on this used engine I've recently acquired. I don't see a thermostat cover or housing. I've followed the waterlines that I can see, but don't see anything obvious, and there is no mention of one in the owner's manual.

Does anyone know where to locate the t-stat or if this engine even has one? 84 60hp Mercury 3 cylinder 2 cycle.

Thanks,

Two easy ways to find out.Use your serial number to search for parts on any number of parts sites such as mercruiserparts.com.Use the search with pictures option.T-stat would probably show up in the "exhaust covers" section.Option 2 would be to look at your exhaust cover, left hand or port side of engine.Look for a round approx 2 inch diameter section of that exhaust cover. If there is a small relief hole drilled thru that area, you have a poppet valve and thermostat. The hole will be a bit smaller than 1/8 inch dia.
