Howdy folks so my force engine was running great, then I took it out onto the water the other day and the starter was acting like the battery was dead and would only turn enough to engage the bendix and then die. I thought it was the solenoid and replaced it and then nothing was happening, i would turn the key and the starter had no life at all, I looked at the neutral saftey swith and even bypassed it .. nope that wasnt it. When I jumped the starter to the battery or toched the solinoid terminals together with a screw driver the starter would fire up easily so I knew it wasnt the starter. I eventually traced the yellow wire back to the key ignition swith an accidently touched the red and yellow wires at the back terminals together and the starter kicked on an engaged the flywheel ..... Thats IT !! I replaced the key ignition and now the starter turns the flywheel like a CHAMP !!! but I cant get the engine to catch and turn over now ..... arg ! I dont know if when I was troubleshooting and bypassing I may have killed the circuit breaker switch? the reset button is sticking out a little but its loose and I can push it in but it doesnt stay depressed or go flush. I dont know if its supposed to be flush when its been reset ?? The next thing is where do I take my trouble shooting next?? Help!!

Thanks

Do a spark test. Then a compression test.Check the magnet in the flywheel it might have come loose.Still no spark then check the keyway.J

Thanks for the reply, I checked spark last night and it looks good, I also bypassed the curcuit breaker and there was no difference.. so Im ruling that out. I charged the battery over night and went out to start troubleshootling again today and noticed black goo had dripped out of the exhaust overnight onto the prop (unburned gas/oil mix? from failed starting)Im not sure what else it could be.... decided to change gear case lube while im thinking.....
