1984 90hp inline 6 doesn't like to go into gear after running for awhile

She starts up well, runs well, then on a re-start for the return trip after fishing for a while she will start up fine but will stall when put into gear.<br /><br />Carbs are good, compression is good, spark on all cylinders, just checked the plugs and no sign of water in the cylinders - though the plugs on clylinders 1 and 2 had more carbon on them than looked normal. I'm at a loss as to what else to check...thanks for any ideas.

JUST FOR GRINS HAVE YOU CHECKED TO MAKE SURE YOUR PROP IS CLEAR. TAKE IT OFF & MAKE SURE NOTHING IS IN THE PROP HUB OR SHAFT.

Better yet, spin your prop befor you go through the trouble of taking it off. If it spins somewhat freely, your prop sheering mechanizm is broke, but no worries, they are suppose to. Its better to replace a $50.00 prop than a $2,000.00 prop shaft.
