1984 bayliner 85hp force outboard motor oil leak. I noticed a puddle of blk oil on the garage floor after the last few times i had the boat out under the motor. Does anyone know what could be the problem by looking @ the pic i posted? Is it lower unit oil leak or gas & oil mix leak? Where is the leak comming from? Thanx

Most likely just unburnt excess fuel from the exhaust,
nothing to worry about if it is,

could be a worn lu seal too

first option most likely though

Usually a leak from that area is unburned gas/oil that dribbles down from the top.

To be sure, drain the lower unit oil.

If you don't know about the following?
DO NOT TOUCH THE SLOTTED SCREW ON THE SIDE OF THE HOUSING!!
That's a pivot pin and will need to have the lower unit disassembled to fix.

You might have an allen head set screw for a drain plug?
Replace the seals for the fill and vent screws.
I use Mercury type seals, the old plastic crush washers are a 1 time only use.

There also is a oil slick in the water around the motor after stopping,, but i dont see anything leaking when i remove the cover, i replace all the gas lines last year. So idk if that could be seals or gasket somwhere either

That oil slick could be the unburned gas/oil??
Maybe it's the trim@tilt leaking??

I use a cleaner like Purple Power or something similar.
Soak it with cleaner and rinse good.
For the cable connectors that the soap cleans off, you need lube: I use white lithium spray grease.
