When button is pressed nothing happens.Itookstarter off and hooked it to jumper cables it works.I took push button apart and cleaned contacts still nothing.Help

I will assume you have an electric start model? Does it have a tiller?You are pushing the hidden button on the left correct not the one on the front of the motor.

If a factory installation there is another identical switch as a " start in neutral only " feature.-----Check that one out.

I was pushing the one on the front of the motor.I am going up to look for the hidden button

Follow the battery cables they go right to the button. The button on the front of the motor is the kill button.

Exactly there is a hidden button to the left .However when I mash it still nothing.The fellow that gave it to me said he had to wiggle the cables as they entered the motor to get it to work .So it might be the start button .I will investigate tomorrow.Thanks fly in scott

Now look at the switch racer is talking about. Follow the cable in from the switch to the neutral safety switch. It must be pushed down in neutral for the starter to turn.

It was the start button.I took the neutral safety switch off and bolted the wires together.It still would not turn the starter.I took the push button off touched the wires together and starter turned .

Test both switches first.-----Judging by the price they are quite proud of them.

I replaced my start switch for $8 with a 40 amp pushbutton off of ebay. The neutral safety you are tied to the factory.

i picked one up at the local auto parts store 5 bucks just a 20 amp but seems to work fine
Oem was 184.Motor runs like a top but kill switch is not working.Always amazes me when a motor that old runs
One look at it and you know it was not babied.Looks like hell but runs like a champ
