I'm on my way to review this motor model #Model E4BRHCRM. The owner bills it at low hours (of course) were there any known weaknesses with this model? I plan to use it to troll for salmon on lake huron and as a back-up on my duck boat. Any info or proffesional type opinions on this model would be appreciated.

It was a great little engine 21 years ago, songdog.

For your use I can't think of a better one.

I agree, great motor then , great motor now.
With proper maintenance, it should run for another 20 years and then some. They are light, powerful (for their size), and idle like a fine watch. The smaller 'twins' are a joy to run and simple to work on with simple tools.

The only weakness I've found with them is 'keeping them' . The last one I owned, I was almost forced to sell, because my bro' in law pestered me constantly to sell it to him. He wouldn't part with it now for love nor money.

Summer before last, I found a '73 4HP 'Rude, at a lake garage sale, with 10 hours on it. It had been sitting in a widows basement for years. It looks like the day it was made. After some basics, (replace water impeller, carb cleaning etc.) she started right up.
Sweet little motor. Nobody's getting this one!
