I just replaced my throttle and shift cables. Would someone kindly tell me how to adjust them properly. Thank you.

your throttle cable should be adjusted so that your throttle is all the way to the idle position when the shifter is in neutral. the shifter cable should be adjusted so that the cable lines up with the shifter linkage in neutral with the control in the neutral position. the shifter one can be a little tricky because of the play that you have in the linkage. after you adjust it take it to the water and test run your boat, make sure that it is going all the way into reverse and forward, if it is not going all the way into one gear the adjust your cable gromet a couple of turns to correct the problem until it is going into both gears completely. this is very important to get right and may take some practice before you get the feel for it., I can usually get it right the first try now, but I have done probably over 100.

I got it adjusted and working fine. This past weekend the idle adjuster arm went slack. I looked in the throttle box and all looked okay. I tried to adjust at the grommet and in so doing the throttle locked up in the neutral position and will not move. The idle adjuster still is totally slack. Ideas?

try disconnecting the cable going to your linkage and determine if the linkage or the cable is what is locked up. if it is the cable, replace it.
