1984 Johnson 85hp pee hole

i have just got a 1984 Johnson 85HP. This motor has no pee hole by the cowl. Is there a way to put one in so i know if the pump is working or not?

You can plumb one in to either the exhaust cover or the top of the block. Top of the block is better.

Do I hook it into the water lines going to the thermostat

Search for that exact same question on here for Johnson engines and read the huge numbers of replies from others that had done that exact same thing. There are lots of folks that have asked that same question. And some nice folks have take their time to snap pictures of their installs...

No problem, it takes a set of stones to start drilling into the powerhead. I did the pee hole addition to mine and it was actually pretty easy.
