hello everyone ! i just acquired an 1984 Mariner bass boat. I am needing to replace all the carpet and lid covers as well as the vinyl on the area in front of the steering wheel area. i have made the replacement boards for them. this is an old boat and i don't want to sink a lot of money into it.can you suggest a place i can buy the vinyl for the seats. I have also pulled up all the carpet and have it set aside for a template for the replacement carpet. Will exterior carpet from Home Depot work ?
also what adhesive do you suggest ?

I get all my vinyl supplies online from this vendor...http://stores.ebay.com/Trimjobber-Ca...=p4634.c0.m322
Great Prices...and Great Customer Service!!
For laying your carpet I'd use this..

Veada.com I've redone two boats using their vinyl. It's decent stuff...not high end, but decent. Can get welting, thread and other stuff too.

I agree on using contact cement for carpet glue. I used it to carpet the deck and hatches in my 16ft alum fishing boat. It allows you to lay the carpet quickly and is waterproof. Laying carpet in large deck area can be tricky, but is pretty doable with a helper or two.

For carpet, I ordered 16oz marine carpet online and it is plenty plush. I think the outdoor stuff at the big box stores will work, but It may not last quite as long as marine carpet.

Edit: make sure you get carpet with rubber backing.

I used Home Depot carpet 3 years ago. My boat sits uncovered in the Arizona sun and it looks like brand new. That's what I'd recomend and its so cheap you can get enough to do the trailer bunks as well. It slides better than Astro turf. If I do it over I'd go for marine vinyl flooring but only because of the firewood I haul and the muddy dog.
