At first we were not getting fire and the engine didn't try to start so we replaced the coil, points, and condenser. We set the points correctly and we now know that we are getting fire.

Now when we try to start it tries but it doesn't start. We checked if it was getting fuel and it is. We replaced the fuel filter and it still doesn't want to start. We primed the carberator and it does the same. If we try to start it in neutral it doesn't even try to start at all but it does turn over. If we push the lever forwarder it acts like it wants to start but it doesn't!

Looking for any suggestions!

I assume your starter motor is working and the engine will not turn over? Sounds like starter will operate in gear? There should be a switch in the throttle remote control that will not let the starter solenoid operate unless in neutral. Sounds like a wiring problem to me.

The engine does turn over when it is in neutral but it doesn't try to run.
